Garner Posted Season-High of 28 Points in the 72-57 Win over UAH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - West Alabama men's basketball team cruised by Alabama Huntsville 72-57 Sunday evening inside Kelly Court at Spragins Hall.
 
The Tigers improved to 15-4 overall and are 11-4 in GSC play. The Chargers dropped to 15-6 overall and are 10-5 in the conference. 
 
Kuran Garner posted a season-high of 28 points. He also pulled down six boards. Justin Allison had 16 points, five assists, and four rebounds. Terry Durham scored 12 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and made two steals. 
 
Thaddeus Williams posted seven points, had three rebounds, and three assists. Shardarrion Allen grabbed 12 rebounds, scored five points, and dished out four assists. CJ Melton pulled down six boards, posted four points, had two assists, and two steals.  
 
UWA shot 45.3 percent (24-of-53) from the floor, 42.9 percent (12-of-28) from the three-point range, and 75 percent (12-of-16) from the foul line. 
 
West Alabama maintained the lead the whole game. The Tigers started with a 6-0 run with a pair of threes from Garner and Allison. UWA held the 32-25 advantage over the Chargers at the end of the first half.
 
To start the second half, UWA had another pair of three-pointers from Williams and Garner to extend the lead to 38-28. The Chargers went on a 10-3 run at the 17:14 mark, trimming UWA's lead to 41-38.
 
The Tigers responded with a 15-3 run to run the clock down to 7:08 minutes left in the game. The end of the game was back-and-forth free throw shooting, but UWA closed it out and claimed the 72-57 win. 
 
UAH shot 34 percent (18-of-53) from the field, 22.7 percent (5-of-22) from beyond the arc, and 94.1 percent (16-of-17) from the free throw line. CJ Williamson led the Chargers with 16 points and six rebounds.
