Men's Hoops Claimed Road Victory over UWF

PENSACOLA, Fla. - West Alabama men's basketball team claimed a 60-52 road win over West Florida inside UWF Field House Thursday evening. The Tigers improved to 13-2 overall and are 9-2 in GSC play. The Argos dropped to 7-8 overall and are 3-8 in the conference. 
 
CJ Melton posted a season-high of 18 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and had three assists. Justin Allison dropped 16 points, had seven rebounds, and dished out five assists.  

 
 
UWA shot 41.7 percent (20-of-48) from the floor, 30 percent (6-of-20) from the three-point range, and 77.8 percent (14-of-18) from the foul line. 
 
The Tigers held a nine-point lead at the half, 29-20. With 13:05 remaining in the game, UWA only held a one-point advantage over UWF, 36-35. The Tigers had a pair of layups to stretch the lead to 49-44 at the 6:36 mark. UWA scored 11 more points and held onto the lead to close out the game with a 60-52 victory over West Florida. 
 
UWF shot 29.2 percent (19-of-65) from the field, 28.6 percent (6-of-21) from beyond the arc, and 100 percent (8-of-8) from the free throw line.
 
LaTrell Tate led the Argos with 16 points and four rebounds. Daniel Sofield added 14 points and four rebounds. 

 
 
The Tigers close out the weekend against Valdosta State on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. CT inside The Complex in Valdosta, Georgia.
