LIVINGSTON, Ala.- The University of West Alabama men's soccer team faced The Choctaws of Mississippi College tonight in a 2-2 draw inside Tiger Stadium in Livingston.
The first half saw Mississippi College start off extremely aggressive, as the Choctaws scored at the 15' mark courtesy of Yamato Fujishima. The Choctaws wouldn't stop there, as Guilherme Santos scored unassisted at the 23' mark, giving Mississippi College a commanding 2-0 lead.
The first-half scoring frenzy found its way to the Tigers, as Yannick Pohland scored off an assist from Shane Pettit to narrow the deficit to 2-1. Richard Lopez joined in as the Tigers regained momentum, tying the match 2-2 at the 36' mark from a double assist by Adrian Evrard and Baronyi Kengeye.
Neither team would find the net again for the remainder of the match, closing out the night with a 2-2 draw.
Mississippi moves to 8-1-2 with a 4-0-2 record in the GSC, while West Alabama moves to 7-2-3 with a 5-1-2 record in the GSC. West Alabama will play their final home game inside Tiger Stadium on Sunday, October 15th as they take on Delta State. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. in Livingston.
