Men's Soccer Ties Late with Delta State

LIVINGSTON, Ala.- The University of West Alabama Men's Soccer team tied with Statesmen of Delta State today by a score of 2-2 at Tiger Stadium in Livingston.

West Alabama had their foot on the gas early, with Baronyi Kengeye scoring first at the 12' mark assisted by Yannick Pohland

Kengeye is now the 3rd player in the history of West Alabama men's soccer to score double digit goals in a season, four goals away from tying the single season school record held by Thibault Charney (14).

Potien Lembo decided to put one in for himself in the 25th minute, assisted by Adrian Evrard, giving the Tigers the early 2-0 advantage.

The Statesmen wouldn't go down without a fight, as they made a vicious 2nd half comeback courtesy of a goal by Eldi Seiti assisted by Arturo Riestra in the 76th minute, and a solo shot by James Lynch in the 85th minute.

The Tigers made a late game push to pull ahead with Baronyi Kengeye taking two shots on goal in the final minute in the match that were both saved by Daniel Santema.

West Alabama moves to 7-2-4 overall with a 5-1-3 record in the GSC (Gulf South Conference), while Delta State moves to 2-7-3, with a 0-4-3 record in the GSC.

The Tigers will travel to Huntsville Friday, October 20th to take on Alabama Huntsville. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
