HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The University of West Alabama cross country teams ran the 2023 Gulf South Conference Championships on Saturday. The men's team took 11th place, while the women earned 13th.
In the women's 5K,
Augusta Arnold led the Tigers with a personal-best time of 22:10.8 for 82nd overall, improving her previous high by 36 seconds.
Kiona McCallister also earned a PR, shattering her previous high by nearly a minute with a 22:28.6 finish on Saturday.
Kayley Key also improved her season-best at Saturday's championship with a finish of 24:11, while
Maryanne Logsdon achieved a personal-best finish of 25:13.
WOMEN'S RESULTS
On the men's side,
Gary Mata improved his best 8K time by seven seconds with a 40th place time of 26:20.4.
Jentzen Moore followed with a finish of 27:00, good for 54th overall.
MEN'S RESULTS
UWA will next prepare for the 2023 NCAA South Region Championships at the University of Montevallo on Saturday, Nov. 4.
