Men's Soccer ties With West Florida in Regular Season Closer

PENSACOLA, FL.- The University of West Alabama men's soccer team tied with the Argos of West Florida in full time by a score of 3-3 in Pensacola.  

West Alabama controlled the tempo early until The Argos took an early lead off a miraculous deep shot from midfield courtesy of Marcus Pereira unassisted in the 9th minute.  

West Alabama regained momentum quickly in the 21st minute off a goal from Richard Lopez unassisted, tying things back up 1-1. Baronyi Kengeye took a crack at it in the 38th minute but was saved by UWF's Nicolas Meckien. Shane Pettit attempted to take the lead right before the half, but Meckien wasn't having it, taking the 1-1 tie into the half.  

Antione Amet finally broke through the Argos' defenses in the 54th minute unassisted, giving the Tigers their first lead. West Florida answered at the 67-minute mark with a goal Keegan Ancelin unassisted to tie things back up at two.  

The Argos wasted no time taking a swift lead less than 2 minutes later off a score from Keegan Lynch off an assist from Flynn Geigle.  

West Alabama wouldn't go down without a fight however as Potein Lembo scored in the 87th minute unassisted to tie things up at 3 in the back-and-forth affair.  

The Tigers' Ellis Williamson took a shot on goal with less than two minutes to go but was saved by the Argos goalie Nicolas Meckien, ending the match in a draw.  

The Tigers finish the regular Season 8-2-5 with a 6-1-4 GSC (Gulf South Conference) record, while the Argos finish with an 8-1-4 record and a 5-1-4 record in the GSC. West Alabama will host a GSC quarterfinal inside Tiger Stadium on Sunday, November 5th, with the time and opponent to be announced at a later date.
