ALBANY, Ga.- The University of West Alabama Men's Basketball team was defeated by the Albany State Rams 70-65 in Albany, Georgia.
The Tigers downfall came from a rough day behind the arc, as they shot a baffling 4-27 from the three-point mark, and 18-56 overall from the field. The Tigers point guards Thaddeus Williams and Jaylen Lemons shot a combined 0-15 from the field and scored a combined 3 points.
Kuran Garner led the Tigers in scoring with 20 points, along with six rebounds and two assists.
Despite the offensive struggles from West Alabama, CJ Melton and Caleb McGill made a strong effort at the end of the game to make a comeback. Melton scored two layups off two separate fast breaks inside two minutes to go, followed by a McGill three to narrow the deficit to three points with 38 seconds to go.
Terrin Wofford sealed the win for the Rams as he hit nylon on two free throws with two seconds to go, giving them a deciding five-point lead. Wofford scored 16 overall for the Golden Rams, followed by leading scorer Blaise Wallace who dropped 21 for ASU.
The Tigers Fall to 1-1 on the Season as they return home to Livingston to take on top ten ranked Lincoln Memorial inside Pruitt Hall on Sunday, November 19th. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
