MURRAY, Ky. – The University of West Alabama rodeo teams concluded the fall schedule over the weekend at the Murray State Rodeo Show.

The women's team took fourth place overall, totaling 155 points, while the men captured sixth with 320 points.

"We didn't compete up to our capabilities, and we made too many crucial mistakes. I am thankful for the break so that we can reset the system; this is only the halfway point. We need to use this time to rest, but it also gives us a chance to work on fundamentals," said head coach Daniel Poole.

On the men's side, Cooper Cowan earned a share of the team roping championship with Dickson Latham of Southern Arkansas. Cowan, after scoring a 7.6 on the first attempt, came back the next night and scored a six to take the top spot.

Tyler Lovering was able to earn top-six honors in the calf roping. On his second go, he finished with an 11.2-second tie-down to take second place and fourth overall with a 25.9 average.

For the women, Taycie Matthews took second the barrel racing event with an average of 28.04. She earned the fastest time of 13.87 seconds on the first attempt.

The Tiger Wranglers will return to action in the spring. A full schedule will be updated on uwaathletics.com.
