ROME, Ga.- West Alabama moves to 4-0 in GSC play after defeating the Hawks of Shorter 79-71 in Rome, Georgia tonight.
Jaylen Lemons led the Tigers in scoring with 21 of his 23 points in the first half while shooting 50% from the field. Kuran Garner followed suit with 22 points on 50% shooting.
Despite a second half where the Tigers were outscored 40-31 and went 8-19 from the field, the Tigers outstanding first half performance stood the test of time, as the team shot 56% from the field and an astounding 69% from three in the first 20 minutes of play, marking the sixth straight game the Tigers have hit ten or more threes.
The Hawks shot an efficient game, shooting 55% from the field overall, including their second half offensive explosion, but it wasn't enough to catch up despite a poor offensive performance in the second half from West Alabama.
West Alabama moves to 7-1 on the year and 4-0 in conference play, while Shorter moves to 3-6 overall and 1-4 in GSC play.
The Tigers will close out their weekend road trip in Cleveland, Tennessee as they take on the Flames of Lee University. Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m. ET.
