Tigers and Golden Bears Split Doubleheader

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama split Friday's non-conference doubleheader against Miles at Tartt Field, winning the first game 6-1, and losing the second game 5-4.
 
West Alabama moves to 2-4 overall while Miles is 3-3.
 
Jacob Smith (2-0) secured the win in game one and Kaleb Hellard (0-2) took the loss. Kaleb Allen (2-1) got the win for the Golden Bears in the second game while Graham Holland (0-1) was charged with the loss.
 
Smith struck out 13 of the 28 batters he faced in his eight innings pitched. He only gave up four hits and one run and walked one batter.
Jackson Wynn pitched one inning in the win and walked two batters while walking only one.
 
West Alabama saw six different pitchers in the second game with Javian Stone pitching for three innings and allowing three hits, three runs, three walks and striking out two batters.
 
The Tigers collected 13 hits in game one and three in game two. Miles had 10 hits on the day with four of them coming in game one and six in game two.
 
John Mitchell and Michael Rich each led the Tigers with three hits on the night. Kyle Vogler, Lane Domino, and Bryce Newman came up with the only hits in game two for the Tigers.
 
Nick Thibodeau hit a homerun for West Alabama in the fourth inning of game one and collected two RBIs in the process.
 
The third game of the series has been postponed due to rain and rescheduled to a later date.
 
The Tigers' next game will be against William Carey at Tartt Field this Tuesday with the first pitch set for 3 p.m.
