Fourth Quarter Rally Leads Tigers to 77-62 Victory over CBU

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - West Alabama women's basketball team rallied in the fourth quarter, scoring 29 points to claim the 77-62 win over Christian Brothers Thursday evening inside Canale Arena. 
 
The Tigers improved to 13-12 overall and are 10-11 in GSC play. The Bucs dropped to 11-14 overall and are 8-13 in the conference. 
 
Jala Williams led the Tigers with 20 points, six assists, five rebounds, and three steals. Bria Dent posted her 17 double-double of the season, scoring 18 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Zoe Watts posted 13 points and five rebounds. Maryanne Logsdon added 12 points and five rebounds. 
 
UWA shot 47.4 percent (27-of-57) from the field, 44.4 percent (4-of-9) from beyond the arc, and 70.4 percent (19-of-27) from the free throw line. 
 
The Tigers and the Bucs were tied 32-32 at the half. UWA outscored CBU 16-14 in the third quarter, allowing the Tigers to take the 48-46 lead. 
 
Dent scored the first two buckets of the fourth quarter. Williams improved the lead to 56-48 after making a jumper and a layup at the 7:42 mark. With 6:27 remaining in the quarter, the Tigers went on a 12-4 run to extend the lead to 69-54. UWA was able to hold off CBU the remainder of the game, allowing the Tigers to claim the 77-62 win.  
 
Jeremia Montgomery led the Bucs with 15 points and nine rebounds. 
 
The Tigers continue GSC play on the road on Saturday against Union. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at Fred DeLay Gymnasium in Jackson, Tennessee.
