Tiger Baseball Heads to West Georgia for First GSC Series

CARROLLTON, Ga. – The West Alabama baseball team opens up conference play this weekend on the road against West Georgia in a three-game series. Saturday opens up with a doubleheader, with a single game on Sunday.

The series opens on Saturday, with game one of the doubleheader beginning at noon CT. The single game on Sunday will begin at noon as well.

The Tigers (2-5) are coming off a loss against William Carey in which they had seven hits. Blake Vineyard and Michael Rich led the Tigers with two hits each.

Rich leads the Tigers with 10 hits on the season and a .370 batting average in seven starts. Josh Bower bats .350 on the season with seven hits and three RBIs.

Nick Thibodeau adds a .313 batting average with five hits and a team-leading four RBIs.

Jacob Smith (2-0) leads the Tigers on the mound with a 1.32 ERA across 13.2 innings pitched. He has struck out 18 batters and allowed only nine hits, six runs, and four walks. Smith holds opposing batters to a .176 batting average.

West Georgia (4-1) have won four straight games after dropping their first game of the season against Augusta. The Wolves' most recent win comes against Carson-Newman 13-7.

Henry Daniels leads West Georgia with a .632 batting average on the season with 12 hits, one home run, and six RBIs.
