West Georgia Sweeps Tigers

CARROLLTON, Ga. – West Alabama drops both game of Friday's Gulf South Conference conference doubleheader against West Georgia, losing the first game 12-6 and the second game 4-3.
 
West Alabama moves to 2-7 overall and 0-2 in GSC play, while West Georgia is now 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
 
Jackson Wynn (0-1) took the loss in game one and Peyton Berry (1-0) secured the win. Chase Townsend (2-1) got the win for the Wolves in the second game while Jacob Smith (2-1) picked up his first loss on the mound this season.
 
Bryant Quimby pitched three innings in the first game, striking out three batters and allowing six hits, three runs, and three walks. Smith continued his stellar play on the mound, striking out 13 of 29 batters faced. He allowed seven hits, four runs, and four walks in his six innings on the mound.
 
West Alabama had five different pitchers take the mound in the first game with Wynn allowing one hit, two runs, one walk and struck out one batter.
 
The Tigers collected 10 hits in game one and seven in game two. West Georgia had 19 hits on the day with 12 of them coming in game one and seven in game two.
 
Jake Nemith and Houston Kitterman led the Tigers with three hits each on the night. Josh Bower, Donovan Shows, and Bryce Newman came up with the only other hits in game two for the Tigers.
 
Michael Rich led the Tiger with his three RBIs in game one, followed by Newman's two RBIs in game two.
 
The third and final game of the series is set for Sunday at noon CT.
