Baseball Takes Game Three Against West Georgia

CARROLLTON, Ga. – West Alabama's baseball team avoids a sweep in its Gulf South Conference series against West Georgia with a 6-5 win in the third game.

The salvaged win improves the Tigers' record to 3-7 overall and 1-2 in GSC play. West Georgia dropped to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Trailing 4-2 after the fifth inning, UWA pushed across four runs in the sixth inning to secure the lead and did not look back from there.

Michael Rich secured his third hit and third RBI of the game, bringing Houston Kitterman home and kicking off the Tigers' big sixth inning. Jake Nemith followed up with a single, bringing Kyle Vogler home. Rich made it home on a passed ball before Nick Thibodeau finished off the inning by advancing home.

Vogler led the Tiger bats with three hits and two runs in the game, followed by Bower with two hits. Four other Tigers secured a hit on the game, including Thibodeau and Houston Kitterman who added a combined three runs between them.

The Tigers saw five different pitchers take the mound with Gates Pee (1-0) securing the win by striking out one of his five batters faced and allowing no runs, walks, or hits in his 1.1 innings pitched.

Brenton Thiels recorded his first save of the seasoning. He pitched two innings and allowed only two hits and one run. Thiels struck out two of the eight batters faced.

Jake Jordan (1-1) was charged with his first pitching loss of the season. In his three innings pitched, he allowed four hits, four runs, and two walks.
