Valdosta State Holds Off Tigers for 66-63 Win

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama women's basketball team outscored Valdosta State 39-34 in the second half; however, the Blazers held onto the lead to come away with the 66-63 win Thursday evening inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. 
 
The Tigers dropped to 13-14 overall and are now 10-13 in the conference. The Blazers improved to 20-5 overall and are 19-4 in the conference. 
 
UWA trailed 32-24 at the half. The Tigers posted 22 points in the third quarter to cut the Blazers' lead to 56-46. UWA outscored VSU 17-10 in the fourth quarter with the help of a 7-0 run, but the Blazers' held onto the lead to claim the 66-63 win. 
 
Jala Williams and Bria Dent were the only two Tigers to score in double figures. Williams led the Tigers with 23 points, five assists, and three steals. Dent posted 20 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out four assists. 
 
Aleisha Curry led the Blazers with 17 points and six rebounds. 
 
The Tigers return to Pruitt Hall Gymnasium on Saturday to take on West Florida in a GSC matchup. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
