Tigers Host Union in the First Round of the GSC Championship Tournament on Tuesday

LIVINGSTON, Ala. –  After being named 2023 Gulf South Conference Regular Season Co-Champions, the West Alabama men's basketball team will be the No. 2 seed in the GSC Championship Tournament. The tournament begins Tuesday when the Tigers host No. 7 seed Union in the quarterfinal round at 6:30 p.m. inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. 

UWA completed the regular season 23-5 overall and 16-4 in the GSC, capturing the title in head coach Nick Woodruff's third season.

General admission tickets will be $10 at the entrance through card transactions or cash or can be purchased ahead of time here. Since this is a GSC event, Tiger Club Passes, UWA All-Sports Passes, and Faculty Passes will not be honored. Everyone must purchase a ticket. 

Union students, high school students, and youth tickets are $5 and can only be purchased at the door with your Student ID. 

UWA full-time on-campus undergraduate students will receive an email in their UWA account from Hometown Ticketing with instructions on how to access their GSC ticket to get into the game. 

Both live stream and live stats will be available. The tournament will stream live on FloSports. Fans will be required to purchase a subscription. Shardarrion Allen leads the Tigers' offense. He averages 14.2 points per game and six rebounds per game. Allen ranks 16th in the GSC in scoring and 11th in rebounds.

Justin Allison averages 13.3 points per game, ranking him 21st in the GSC in scoring. He averages 3.9 rebounds per game and 3.2 assists per game. He ranks second in the GSC for free throw percentage, 10th in assists, and 18th in 3-point field goals per game. 
 
Terry Durham averages 12.8 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game. Durham ranks fourth in the GSC in rebounds and 26th in scoring. 

Kuran Garner averages 11.5 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game. CJ Melton ranks 13th in the conference for rebounds, averaging 5.8 per contest.

As a unit, UWA averages 72.9 points per game. The Tigers' defense leads the GSC in scoring defense, holding its opponent to 61.7 points per game. UWA's scoring margin is 11.2 points per game.
