Men's Basketball Dominates Delta State, 73-45

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama men's basketball team dominated Delta State 73-45 in Gulf South Conference action Saturday evening inside Pruitt Hall Gymnasium. 
 
The Tigers improved to 19-4 overall and are 15-4 in GSC play. The Statesmen dropped to 6-17 overall and are 5-15 in the conference.
 
Shardarrion Allen led the Tigers with 22 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Terry Durham posted 16 points and grabbed two rebounds. Justin Allison added 11 points and dished out eight assists. 
 
The Tigers shot 46.3 percent (25-of-54) from the field, 31.8 percent (7-of-22) from beyond the arc, and 80 percent (16-of-20) from the free throw line. 
 
UWA jumped to a 7-0 lead to start the game. The Tigers stretched the lead to 15-2 at the 13:06 mark. DSU responded with a 7-2 run with 11:09 remaining in the first quarter. The Tigers closed out the first half 43-23.
 
The Tigers started the second half with a 7-0 run to stretch the 50-23 advantage. The next five baskets were stretched over a minute time span, with the Tigers up 54-27. UWA held the lead for the remainder of the game and closed it out with a 73-45 victory over Delta State.
 
The Statesmen shot 41.9 percent (18-of-43) from the floor, 20 percent (3-of-15) from the three-point range, and 54.5 percent (6-of-11) from the foul line. Derek Moore led DSU's offense with 15 points and 11 rebounds. 
 
The Tigers hit the road and head to Carrollton, Georgia, on Saturday to take on West Georgia. Tip-off is 1 p.m. inside The Coliseum.
