Tigers Welcome Lee for GSC Series

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama baseball team will host Lee in a Gulf South Conference series this weekend. The first pitch for the Saturday doubleheader is scheduled for 3 p.m., while the single game on Sunday is set to begin at noon.
 
UWA enters the weekend with an 11-11 overall record and a 7-5 record in GSC play. Lee comes in with a 13-10 overall record and a 5-4 record in the conference.
 
Michael Rich leads the Tiger hitters with a .407 batting average, 35 hits, five home runs, and 20 runs batted in. Rich has climbed into the GSC statistics leaderboard with his batting average putting him at eighth in the conference and his 35 hits earning him the fourth spot in the GSC.
 
Jake Nemith has a .333 batting average on the season to go with 30 hits, 17 runs, nine doubles, and 14 RBIs. Nemith finds himself in the GSC leaderboards as well with the number ten spot in hits and first in the conference with his nine doubles.
 
Shortstop Blake Vineyard adds in a .311 batting average accompanied by 10 runs, 19 hits, and one home run. Kyle Vogler leads the Tigers with six stolen bases to go with his team-leading 21 runs, 20 hits, and two homeruns.
 
West Alabama continues to be led on the mound by Jacob Smith (4-2). With an opposing batting average of .219 and 60 batters struck out across 40.2 innings pitched, Smith finds himself high in the GSC rankings at eighth, first, and second in those statistics respectively. His four wins puts him at second in the GSC to go with his 2.88 ERA.
 
Brandon Daniels leads Lee with a .375 batting average and 24 runs scored. Daniels has 30 hits, six doubles, five home runs, and 16 runs batted in. His 24 runs scored is good for fifth in the conference. First baseman Cam Suto has a .360 batting average to accompany his 22 runs, 32 hits, 24 RBIs, and four home runs.
