Tigers Come Out on Top of Late Inning Duel to Win GSC Series Against Lee

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – After entering the bottom of the seventh inning behind by two runs, the West Alabama baseball team found momentum and secured the 13-9 win over Lee to secure the series win.
 
The Tigers improve to 13-12 overall and 9-6 in conference play. Lee falls to 15-12 overall and sit at an even 6-6 record in Gulf South Conference action.
 
Lee entered the bottom of the seventh inning with a 4-2 lead before UWA rallied and put up six runs in the seventh followed by five runs in the eighth to secure the comeback win.
 
Michael Rich had the hot hand for the Tigers, finishing the game with three runs, three hits, three runs batted in, two home runs, and one double in four appearances at the plate.
 
Second baseman Houston Kitterman added two hits, two RBIs, one double and one run scored in four at-bats. Blake Vineyard and Josh Bower had identical stat lines with each of them having one run and two hits in four plate appearances.
 
Kyle Vogler scored two runs and had one hit, while Jake Nemith had one double as his only hit and two runs batted in. Colden Peeples rounded out the Tiger batters, finishing with one run, one hit and two RBIs.
 
West Alabama had five pitchers take the mound. Javian Stone started and pitched for four innings, allowing five hits, four runs, and four walks while striking out two batters. Gates Pee (2-0) remains undefeated on the mound with one inning of work by allowing only three hits and one run and striking out three of the eight batters faced. Brenton Thiels secured his third save of the season.
 
Dylan Standifer led the bats for the Flames by finishing with three hits, two runs scored, five runs batted in, and two doubles. First baseman Cam Suto had three hits and two RBIs. Lee had three other batters finish with two hits and one batter finish with a single hit.
 
Lee's mound saw six pitchers with Sam Fulton starting and finishing with six hits and five runs in six innings of work. Relief pitcher Sean Casteel (1-1) was charged with his first pitching loss of the season; Casteel faced three batters and allowed one hit and two runs while walking one batter and striking one out.
 
West Alabama's next game will be against UAH in Birmingham, Alabama at the Hoover Met with the first pitch set for 1 p.m.
