Baseball to Host Christian Brothers in GSC Series

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama baseball team is set to host Christian Brothers in a three-game Gulf South Conference series at Tartt Field, beginning with the single game on Friday at 5 p.m. and the doubleheader on Saturday at noon.

The Tigers head into the weekend series with a 6-8 overall record and a 3-3 GSC record, while the Buccaneers are 7-9 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

Tiger third baseman, Michael Rich enters the weekend series with a batting average of .396, with 10 runs batted in, 21 hits, six doubles, and one home run. His six doubles put him at sixth in the GSC.

West Alabama's first baseman Josh Bower has 15 hits, seven runs, 12 runs batted in, and one home run. Jake Nemith adds 17 hits and nine runs.

Reigning GSC Pitcher of the Week, Jacob Smith (3-1), leads the Tigers on the mound with a 2.02 ERA across 26.2 innings pitched to go along with 42 strikeouts and an opposing batting average of .190. Smith is in the top six of the GSC in ERA, opposing batting average, innings pitched, batters struck out looking, and wins. He is also first in the GSC in batters struck out with 42.

CBU's bats are led by Ben Brocato, with a .455 batting average, 30 hits, 23 runs, 23 RBIs, and five homeruns. Christian Brothers outfielder Jarret Fowlkes is tied for first in the GSC with 10 stolen bases.
