UWA Baseball Hosts Southeastern Baptist for Midweek Game

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama baseball team is set to host Southeastern Baptist in a non-conference single game on Tuesday with the first pitch set for 4 p.m.

The Tigers return to Tartt Field 16-20 overall, while the Chargers enter with a 5-9-1 record on the season.

Blake Vineyard enters the game with a .346 batting average accompanied by 36 hits, 16 runs scored, four doubles, and two home runs. Michael Rich brings in a .345 batting average, leading the team in hits with 48, RBIs with 31, and home runs with nine.

Outfielder Colden Peeples leads the Tigers in stolen bases with 10 on the season to go along with his 31 hits and 18 runs scored. Jake Nemith leads UWA in doubles with 12 on the season, which puts him at seventh in doubles in the Gulf South Conference.

Josh Bower has 25 hits on the season with 15 runs scored and Houston Kitterman adds 24 hits and 18 runs, while both have hit three home runs each this season.

Southpaw pitcher Jacob Smith (6-3) leads the Tigers on the mound with a 3.56 ERA, .227 opposing batting average, and a GSC-leading 88 strikeouts across 60.2 innings pitched. Smith's opposing batting average is good for fifth in the GSC, his innings pitched puts him at fourth in the conference, and his six wins are good for sixth.
