Tigers Rally to Storm Past Chargers in Midweek Matchup

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama baseball team's bats heated up with six runs scored in the eighth inning to secure a come from behind win against Southeastern Baptist 9-3.
 
The Tigers move to 17-20 while the Chargers drop to 5-10-1 on the season.
 
Left fielder Kyle Vogler led the bats for West Alabama finishing the game with two runs, two hits, and one double to go with his one RBI in three at-bats. Bryce Newman added two runs, two hits, and one RBI as well across four appearances at the plate.
 
Colden Peeples hit a triple in the bottom of the sixth inning to account for his one hit, to go with two hits and one run batted in. Three other Tigers finished with one hit each on the game.
 
UWA had six pitchers take the mound across nine innings. Scott Germak started and pitched for two innings, allowing only one hit, three runs, and four walks and striking out three of 13 batters. Gates Pee (3-0) secured the win, allowing no hits, runs, or walks while striking out three of the six batters faced in two innings of work.
 
John Sullivan was the only Charger to record a hit and a run batted in on the game. Beau Foreman, William LaRocca, and Tyler McKnight accounted for Southeastern Baptist's three runs scored with one each.
 
Matthew Thompson was credited with the loss on the mound, pitching for 1.1 innings and allowing four runs, six hits, and two runs. Thompson was one of three pitchers that took the mound for the Chargers.
 
The Tigers return to action at Tartt Field this weekend with a three-game stretch against Erskine. The single game is set for Friday with the first pitch set for 4 p.m. A doubleheader will follow on Saturday beginning at noon.
