Three Erskine Home Runs Sink Tigers

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama baseball team dropped its first game against Erskine in an 11-6 loss powered by three home runs from Erskine batters.
 
UWA drops to 17-21 overall, while Erskine moves to 23-16 on the season.
 
Catcher Ryan Fletcher led the Tiger bats, hitting a home run and finishing with one run scored, two hits, and three runs batted in. Colden Peeples and Blake Vineyard added two hits and one run each, while Vineyard had one RBI.
 
In three at-bats, left fielder Kyle Vogler had two runs and two hits. Houston Kitterman had one hit and Bryce Newman had one hit as well as one run.
 
The Tigers had five pitchers take the mound with starter Graham Holland (1-3) being charged with the loss. In his three innings of work, Holland allowed two runs, two hits, and four walks with three strikeouts.
 
Erskine's bats were led by Dalton Boyd, Christian Rivera, and Tyler Smith who all hit home runs. Boyd finished with two hits, two RBIs, and one run. Rivera had one run, one run batted in, and two hits and Smith added one hit, one run, and two RBIs.
 
Joe Alegre (8-2) picked up the win for Erskine on the mound. Alegre pitched for six innings and allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out four batters.
 
The two teams will finish the series with a doubleheader on Saturday with the first pitch set to be thrown at noon.
