Baseball Welcomes Erskine for Weekend Series

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Erskine is coming to Tartt Field for a three-game non-conference series against the Tigers this weekend. Kicking off with a single game on Friday starting at 4 p.m. with a doubleheader on Saturday with the first pitch set for noon.

West Alabama heads into the weekend 17-20 overall and Erskine is 22-16.

Blake Vineyard leads the Tigers bats for the season so far, with a .346 batting average, 37 hits, 16 runs, and 15 runs batted in. Michael Rich brings in a .343 batting average with a team-leading 49 hits, nine home runs, and 32 RBIs, accompanied with 28 runs and nine doubles.

Colden Peeples continues to lead West Alabama in stolen bases with 10, while hitting .294 with 32 hits, 20 runs, and 17 runs batted in. Jake Nemith leads the team in doubles with 12, which puts him at seventh in the GSC. Nemith adds 42 hits, 20 RBIs, and 23 runs.

Kyle Vogler has 34 runs, 31 hits, seven doubles, and three home runs. Vogler's 34 runs scored is first amongst the Tigers. First baseman Josh Bower sits at 25 hits and seven doubles.

Left-handed pitcher Jacob Smith (6-3) leads the Tigers on the mound with a 3.56 ERA, .227 opposing batting average, and a GSC-leading 88 strikeouts across 60.2 innings pitched. Smith's opposing batting average is good for fifth in the GSC, his innings pitched puts him at fourth in the conference, and his six wins are good for sixth.

First baseman Dale Francis Jr. leads Erskine with a .427 batting average with 47 hits, 33 runs scored, and 12 home runs. Christian Rivera sits at 12 home runs as well with a .333 batting average, 40 hits, and 43 runs.
