UWA Drops Game Two to Erskine in Six Innings

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama baseball team's doubleheader against Erskine was cut short due to rainy weather. The two teams were able to play through six innings with Erskine walking away with a 6-4 win.
 
The Tigers record drops to 17-22 overall and Erskine moves to 24-16.
 
Shortstop Bryce Newman walked away with a perfect performance at the bats, getting two hits, including one double, and two RBIs in his two plate appearances. Colden Peeples continued his solid play with one run and one hit in two at-bats.
 
Nick Thibodeau had a double as well for his one hit on the game. Blake Vineyard had one hit and first baseman Jake Nemith finished with one hit, one run scored, and one run batted in.
 
Roe Ketchum (0-3) was charged with the loss for the game. Ketchum worked four innings and allowed eight hits, five runs, and two walks with two strike outs.
 
Armando Becerra led the bats for Erskine, in his two at-bats he had three runs and two hits. Juan Jaime hit a home run in the fourth inning and finished with one run scored, two hits, and one RBI.
 
Relief pitcher Caleb Dix (1-0) picked up his first win on the mound for the season by pitching for 2.2 innings and allowing one hit, no runs, and one walk.
 
The Tigers next game will be on the road as they travel to Mobile, Alabama, to take on Spring Hill in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday.
