West Florida Sweeps Tigers in Final Conference Series on the Road

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The West Alabama baseball team was swept in the Gulf South Conference series against West Florida, losing the second game 15-4 and the third game 4-3.
 
The Tigers walk away from the series with a 18-25 overall record and a 12-15 GSC record. The Argonauts end the series 29-14 overall and 19-8 in conference play.
 
Michael Rich led the Tiger bats in game two, finishing with two hits in four appearances at the plate. Colden Peeples and Nick Thibodeau each had one hit and one run scored. Josh Bower 
 
Josh Bower added one run, one hit, and one RBI, while second baseman Houston Kitterman finished with one hit and two RBIs in three at-bats.
 
In game three, Kyle Vogler had a strong performance with two hits and one run in three at-bats. Rich had two hits, one run scored, and two runs batted in, while Blake Vineyard finished with two hits.
 
Thibodeau added two hits in three at-bats and Peeples had one hit and one run scored.
 
In game two, Javian Stone (1-3) was charged with his third loss on the mound this season. In 1.1 innings of work, Stone allowed three hits, six runs, and three walks while striking out one batter. Three other pitchers took the mound in relief for the Tigers.
 
Gates Pee (3-1) picked up his first pitching loss of the season in game three, pitching for 0.2 innings and allowing one run and two hits in the seventh inning. Stone struck out three batters as well.
 
For West Florida, Jacob Bailey led the bats in game two with two hits and three runs. Three other Argonauts finished with two hits each in the game.
 
In the final game of the series, Darrien McDowell led the way for West Florida with his two hits and two runs in two plate appearances. Catcher Josh Prizina added one run, two hits, and one run batted in.
 
Major Posey (7-2) walked away with the win on the mound for West Florida in game two, pitching for 5.1 innings and allowing five hits and four runs while striking out four batters.
 
Game three saw relief pitcher Salvatore Ferro (3-2) earn the win by allowing no runs, hits, or walks while striking out three of six batters faced in two innings of work.
 
The Tigers travel to Birmingham, Alabama, to take on Miles College in their final road game of the season. The non-conference single game is set for Tuesday with the first pitch at 4 p.m.
