Tigers Travel to William Carey for Midweek Game

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The West Alabama baseball team will travel to take on William Carey in a midweek non-conference matchup this Tuesday with the first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m.
 
The Tigers enter the week with a 15-17 record overall and William Carey sits at 27-6 overall.
 
The last time West Alabama took on the Crusaders on the baseball field, William Carey walked away from Tartt Field with a 3-2 win.
 
Michael Rich leads the Tigers with a .377 batting average and has hit a team-leading nine home runs to go with 46 hits and 30 runs batted in. Rich's 46 hits puts him at ninth in the GSC and he also sits at ninth in batting average and seventh in home runs.
 
Jake Nemith brings in 11 doubles and 38 hits with a .290 batting average. Nemith is eighth in the conference in doubles with his 11 on the season so far. Blake Vineyard has a .337 batting average with 31 hits and 16 runs scored.
 
Colden Peeples has the third best batting average on the team at .295 with 28 hits and a team-leading nine stolen bases. Kyle Vogler has batted in a team-leading 32 runs with 29 hits and six doubles.
 
Jacob Smith continues to lead the Tigers on the mound and remains in the conference rankings. Smith has a 2.86 ERA which is good for fifth in the conference, an opposing batting average of .220 which puts him at sixth, 56.2 innings pitched for second in the GSC, 82 batters struck out which leads the conference, and six wins on the mound which is good for second. Relief pitcher Brenton Thiels ranks sixth in saves with three on the season so far.
 
The Crusaders are led by RJ Stinson who bats .441 and has tallied 63 hits along with 45 runs batted in. Patrick Lee leads William Carey with 14 doubles, 11 home runs, and 47 runs batted in.
