UWA Men's Basketball Signs Caleb McGill

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama men's basketball head coach Nick Woodruff announced the signing of Caleb McGill. The forward is a transfer from Jones College.

"We are excited about Caleb joining our program," Woodruff said. "He fits our mold and will be a great addition to the group we have returning."

"Anytime we are able to get the leading scorer from Jones County Junior College, we have to try, and we are fortunate Caleb chose UWA," Woodruff said.

McGill spent two seasons as a Bobcat at Jones College. He accumulated 637 points and grabbed 268 rebounds over 53 games.

The Taylorsville, Mississippi native started in 27 of the 28 games during the 2022-23 season. He averaged 13 points per game, 4.7 rebounds per game, and 3.4 assists per game. He shot 47 percent from the field and 35 percent from beyond the arc. McGill was named Second Team All-MACCC and was named to the Region 23 All-Tournament Team.

In his first season as a Bobcat, McGill played in 25 games and made 23 starts. He averaged 10.9 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, 2.4 assists per game, and 2.1 steals per game. He shot 47 from the field and 76 percent from the free throw line.

McGill graduated high school in 2021 from Petal High School. McGill is a member of the 1,000-point club. He was named First Team All-State for three years.

"Everyone we spoke to in recruiting Caleb talked about his personality, character, and ability," Woodruff said. "He will only continue to develop in our system, and we look forward to seeing how good he can be."
