Men's Hoops Signs Marcellious Lockett

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama men's basketball head coach Nick Woodruff announced the signing of Marcellious "Celly" Lockett. The shooting guard is a transfer from Columbus State University. 
 
Lockett played in 26 games at Columbus State. He shot 35 percent from the field, 37 percent from beyond the arc, and 77 percent from the free throw line. 
 
Prior to CSU, Lockett spent two seasons at College of Southern Idaho. During the 2021-22 season, Lockett started in 18 of the 31 games. He averaged 10.1 points per game, 2.6 rebounds per game, and 2.5 assists per game. He shot 41 percent from the field, 38 percent from beyond the arc, and 72 percent from the foul line. Lockett was an Honorable Mention at the NJCAA Region 18 Tournament. 
 
In his first season at CSI, Lockett played in 21 games. He shot 46 percent from the field, 33 percent from the three-point range, and 86 percent from the free throw line. The Golden Eagles finished the season with a 21-4 overall record, making it to the Region 18 Tournament and the NJCAA National Tournament. 
 
Lockett graduated high school in 2020 from Carrollton High School. Lockett scored over 2,000 points during his high school career. He was voted All-Region three times and, as a shooting guard, was ranked ninth in the state of Georgia.
