Four Tigers Receive Baseball All-GSC Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference released baseball All-GSC members, and four Tigers received the honor. Jacob Smith, Blake Vineyard, Michael Rich, and Jake Nemith were all named to the All-GSC Second Team.

Smith, a junior pitcher from Calera, Alabama, recorded six wins and three losses in his 70.2 innings on the mound. The southpaw led the GSC in strikeouts with 104 on the season and held batters to a .234 batting average.

Vineyard, a sophomore shortstop from Panama City, Florida, led the team with a batting average of .383, recording 54 hits, four home runs, one triple, and eight doubles in 42 games. Vineyard batted in 30 runs and crossed home plate 23 times.

Rich, a junior third baseman from Villa Rica, Georgia, batted .335 on the season while recording a team-best 60 hits, 11 home runs, and 40 runs batted in. Rich added 10 doubles and 37 runs scored.

Nemith, a senior outfielder from Pace, Florida, finished the season with a .303 batting average, recording 46 hits, two home runs, one triple, and a team-leading 12 doubles. Nemith crossed home plate 27 times and batted in 27 runs across 185 appearances at the plate.

Montevallo's Sam Kuchinski received Player of the Year for the second year in a row, while West Florida's Dalton Neuschwander was named Pitcher of the Year. Shorter's Tanner Folds earned Freshman of the Year, and West Florida's Mike Jeffcoat was named Coach of the Year.
