LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama baseball team continues its steady rise on the national stage, moving up across all three major Division II polls following another successful week of competition.
The Tigers climbed to No. 5 in the ABCA Coaches Poll, while also earning the No. 11 spot in both the D2 Baseball Poll and the NCBWA National Poll.
West Alabama's jump in the rankings comes after securing a key Gulf South Conference series victory over then-No. 25 Trevecca Nazarene, taking two of three games. The Tigers followed that up with a dominant 15-7 midweek win on the road against Mississippi College, pushing their overall record to 29-8 on the season.
In conference play, UWA now sits at 18-6 in the GSC, holding the top spot in the league standings as the season continues to move into its final stretch.
The Tigers' success has been fueled largely by one of the nation's top pitching staffs. West Alabama currently ranks second in NCAA Division II with a stellar 2.36 team ERA. The pitching unit has also limited opposing offenses effectively, ranking ninth in the nation in hits allowed per nine innings (7.76) and 10th in WHIP at 1.29.
That consistency on the mound, paired with timely offensive production, has positioned the Tigers as one of the top contenders in Division II baseball.
With momentum building and national recognition continuing to grow, West Alabama will look to maintain its place atop the conference standings and continue its climb in the polls as they host #17 West Florida on Friday, April 10th at 5 PM.
