MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of West Alabama cross country teams began the 2023 season on Saturday, Sept. 2, as the Tigers traveled to the City Auto Memphis Twilight Classic from the Mike Rose Complex.
The women's team took 19th place in a field that saw seven NCAA Division I teams in the field.
Kiona McCallister led the Tiger women with a 24:31.8 finish in the 5K event, followed by
Kayley Key (25:05.4),
Augusta Arnold (25:10.3),
Maryanne Logsdon (26:09.4) and
Daphne Fowler (32:47.4).
On the men's side,
Gary Mata posted a 73rd place finish of 21:59.1 in the program's 5K race
