LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Men's Soccer team could not overcome Christian Brothers, falling 3-0 on Sunday at the UWA Soccer Complex.
Christian Brothers improved their record to 5-3-2 overall and 2-1-2 in Gulf South Conference play, while West Alabama dropped to 4-4-3 and 2-3-2 in the GSC.
Russell Brown was the star for Christian Brothers, scoring all three goals in the match. Brown netted his first in the 31st minute and added two more in the second half, with his second goal coming in the 51st minute off an assist by Daniel Moreno Gomez and his third in the 66th minute.
West Alabama managed 12 shots, five of which were on goal, but couldn't find the back of the net.
Joe Wright led the Tigers with four shots, two on target, but CBU goalkeeper Vice Sanchis Olmedo made four saves to maintain the clean sheet.
Christian Brothers outshot UWA 25-12 and controlled the tempo for most of the match. Despite a solid defensive effort by
Timon Dressel, who made three saves, West Alabama struggled to contain Brown's clinical finishing.
The Tigers will look to bounce back as they travel to face Mississippi College on Friday, October 18th, at 3:30 p.m.
