CLINTON, Miss. – The West Alabama men's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to Mississippi College on Friday, October 18th, at Robert P. Longabaugh Field.
Mississippi College (6-3-1, 4-2-0 GSC) dominated the match with a strong offensive performance, outshooting West Alabama (3-3-3, 1-2-2 GSC) by a margin of 25-8. The Choctaws took the lead in the 20th minute with a goal by Lewis Matton, assisted by Sergio Garrido. Matton added another goal just five minutes later, again assisted by Garrido, putting Mississippi College up 2-0 at halftime.
West Alabama's defense held firm in the second half until the 88th minute, when Denis O. John scored the third and final goal for the Choctaws, assisted by Joseph Moore.
UWA managed eight shots in total, with two on target, but were unable to break through Mississippi College's defense.
Timon Dressel made five saves in goal for the Tigers.
West Alabama will now look ahead to their next road match against Delta State on Sunday, October 20th, at 3:30 p.m.
