CLINTON, Miss. – The University of West Alabama cross country teams took to the trails at the Gulf South Conference Championships on Saturday. The men's team placed eighth overall, while the women's team finished 11th in a competitive field.
MEN'S PERFORMANCE:
The UWA men's team secured an eighth-place finish with 208 points in the 8K race.
Gary Mata led the Tigers, placing 25th with a time of 25:34.1. He was followed by
Jentzen Moore, who completed the course in 33rd place with a time of 25:55.3. Other notable performances included
Jayson Lynch at 44th (26:31.6),
Seth Lord at 46th (26:38.5), and
Wilbur Valencia-Nava in 60th (27:22.0). The Tigers' cumulative team performance placed them in the top ten among competing universities, showcasing their depth and consistency.

WOMEN'S PERFORMANCE:
On the women's side, UWA finished 11th overall, tallying 362 points in the 6K race.
Augusta Arnold led the team, finishing 62nd at 26:17.4, while
Laurel Morse clocked in at 27:06.6, placing 70th. Other finishers included
Autumn Sansing (28:01.2, 75th),
Jordan Conner (29:09.9, 77th), and
Kayley Key (29:10.1, 78th) as the Tigers fought through the challenging field to secure their final placements.
