Men’s Soccer Draws with Warhawks in Sunday Afternoon GSC Play

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Men's Soccer team earned a 2-2 draw against Auburn Montgomery on Sunday at the AUM Soccer Complex.

Despite leading twice, the Tigers were unable to hold off a late push from AUM, moving their record to 3-2-3 overall and 1-1-2 in GSC play.

West Alabama opened the scoring in the 31st minute when Joe Wright netted his second goal of the season, assisted by Michael Bell. AUM responded in the second half, with Benjamin Hoffman scoring the equalizer in the 63rd minute. The Tigers regained the lead just four minutes later when Aiden Riley slotted home a goal off an assist from David Nunez.

However, AUM found another equalizer in the 89th minute, with Sean Keane scoring to secure the draw for the Warhawks.

The match was a physical contest, with both teams combining for 21 fouls and five yellow cards. Despite being outshot 18-8, West Alabama's defense, led by goalkeeper Timon Dressel's five saves, held strong for most of the match.
