Livingston, Ala. – The University of West Alabama volleyball team was defeated 3-0 by Lee University in Gulf South Conference action on Tuesday, October 8.
The Tigers dropped to 1-14 overall and 0-6 in conference play, while Lee improved to 9-9 and 3-3 in the GSC.
Despite a competitive effort, West Alabama struggled to maintain consistency across all three sets, losing 25-16, 25-20, and 25-21. The Tigers hit for a .118 percentage overall, while Lee posted a more efficient .284 hitting percentage.
KB Kinney led the Tigers with eight kills, while
Skylar Fick contributed six kills.
Jaida Alvin added four kills and three service aces, and
Taylor Lamontagne had a solid all-around performance with 21 assists, 10 digs, and two service aces.
Lee's Sara Palumbo was a standout, recording 13 kills and hitting .407, while Naomi Hockless contributed four kills and two blocks. Lee's aggressive serving helped them pull away in critical moments, tallying eight aces.
West Alabama had a .136 hitting percentage in the first set with seven kills but couldn't overcome Lee's steady play, losing 25-16. The second set saw the Tigers fall behind early, and despite a .061 hitting percentage, they managed to keep it close before losing 25-20. West Alabama had its best offensive showing in the third set, hitting .167 with ten kills, but Lee's efficient attack helped them close the set 25-21 and secure the victory.
West Alabama will look to bounce back as they host Stillman College on Wednesday, October 9th, at 6:00 p.m. at Pruitt Hall
