LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama struggled to find their footing against Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville on Saturday, as the Trojans swept the Tigers in straight sets (25-15, 25-16, 25-16).
UWA (2-24, 0-16 GSC) struggled to contain a Trevecca Nazarene (12-15, 9-7 GSC) offense that caught fire early, registering 36 kills on a .302 hitting percentage on Saturday afternoon.
In the first set, UWA managed a .167 hitting percentage but could not match Trevecca Nazarene's efficiency, as the Trojans posted an impressive .444 hitting percentage. Trevecca capitalized on UWA's errors and established early control, closing out the set with a comfortable 10-point lead.
The second set saw UWA grappling with a few missed opportunities, as the Tigers hit only .050. Trevecca continued to apply pressure with powerful serves, tallying four service aces in the set. The Tigers' defense, led by
Maggie Roddam, tried to slow down the Trojan offense, but Trevecca's balanced attack kept UWA on the defensive, securing another 25-16 victory.
The third set followed a similar pattern. UWA kept the score close early on but couldn't break through Trevecca's defensive wall. The Trojans' consistency at the net and low error count allowed them to maintain momentum and take the final set 25-16.
The Tigers look to bounce back at home on Friday, November 8, when they face Valdosta State at 6:00 p.m. in Pruitt Hall for Senior Day.
