LIVINGSTON, Ala. - After standout performances at the Murray State Rodeo this past weekend, the University of West Alabama Men's and Women's Rodeo teams moved up in the NIRA Top-25 standings on Wednesday.
With a second-place finish this past weekend, the Men's squad now hold the No.8 spot in the nation with 2,465 points, while the Women's team rank 11th after picking up their third win of the Fall season on Saturday, propelling their season point total to 1,288.33.
Individually, UWA's
Tanner Brown moved back into the top-10 in the Men's All-Around rankings, standing in the ninth spot with 755 points this season. After winning the Tie Down Roping event this past weekend, Brown also catapulted to the number eight spot in the country in that event with 455 total points on the year. Teammate
Stone Reeves falls right behind Brown as the Freshman closes the Fall Season with 385 points in the event which puts him 13th in the nation.
As we enter the break,
Cooper Cowan stands as the best Team Roper Header in the country, ranking first with 625 points while
Clarke Gordon sits in 19th.
On the women's side,
Sydney Poole is currently 10th in the country in the Women's All-Around, while
Ashley Henderson remains in the top-three in the Breakaway Roping, ranking third.
The West Alabama Women's Rodeo team concludes the Fall season with three Rodeo wins while the Men's team finishes with one and three second place finishes. UWA Rodeo will return to action in the Spring with their next Rodeo set for March 6 in Russellville, Arkansas on the campus of Arkansas Tech.
