Tigers Fall Against Statesmen

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The West Alabama women's basketball team continued its search for its first win of the season, falling 73-52 to Delta State on Thursday evening at Pruitt Hall in Livingston, Alabama.  

Delta State (8-3, 4-1 GSC) took control early, outscoring West Alabama (0-9, 0-5 GSC) 19-10 in the first quarter and maintaining their advantage throughout the contest. The Lady Statesmen dominated the glass with a 36-34 rebounding edge and scored 20 points off UWA's 17 turnovers.  

Kendall Lacoste led the Tigers with 12 points, shooting 3-of-9 from the field and 2-of-5 from three-point range. Janiya Adams also added 12 points off the bench, knocking down two triples and going 4-for-6 from the field. Shayla Golden contributed 10 points and six rebounds in 27 minutes of play.  

Delta State's Olivia Allen paced the Lady Statesmen with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including two three-pointers. Grace Watson posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Makenzie Hill added 16 points and three assists.  

West Alabama struggled offensively, shooting 28.3% from the floor and 29.4% from beyond the arc. The Tigers showed a spark in the third quarter, scoring 18 points, but managed only nine in the fourth as Delta State pulled away.  

The Tigers will return to action on Saturday, December 21, at 2 p.m., hosting Mississippi College in another Gulf South Conference matchup at Pruitt Hall.
