POPLARVILLE, Miss. – The University of West Alabama rodeo teams competed at the Pearl River Rodeo over the week from Pearl River Community College.
The men's team took third, while the women placed in fourth.
Kota Wilhite finished with a total of 21.7 between his two goes in the calf roping and was the lowest score in the field. In his second go, his 10.2 was the second-best.
Grey Wells won the second go of the calf roping with a 9.3.
Taycie Matthews won the barrel racing with an average of 30.8 and taking the victory in the second go at 14.85.
Kaitlyn Schmidt earned bronze in the event with a 30.32.
Joanna Hammett had a fourth place finish in the goat tying with a 16.1.
UWA returns to action on April 11-13 for the final three shows of the year, starting at Tennessee Martin.
