LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama men's soccer improved to 2-0-1 on the season after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday afternoon at the UWA Soccer & Track Complex.
The match's lone goal came late in the second half, courtesy of
David Nunez, as the Tigers held off a relentless PBA attack.
Nunez broke the deadlock in the 80th minute, scoring his first goal of the season.
Michael Bell set up the play and delivered a precise assist to give the Tigers the lead. Despite being outshot 19-13, the West Alabama defense stood strong, limiting PBA to just one shot on goal throughout the match.
The Tigers recorded four shots on target compared to just one from Palm Beach Atlantic, with UWA goalkeeper recording one save. Palm Beach Atlantic had a significant advantage in corner kicks with 13 to UWA's 3 but could not capitalize.
The game saw a few cautions, with PBA's Agustin Iusem receiving a yellow card in the first half and UWA's
Abdul Kamara being booked in the second half.
With this win, West Alabama remains unbeaten and will next take on Carson Newman on Monday, September 16th, in Jefferson City, Tennessee.
