LIVINGSTON, Ala. — West Florida (14-3, 7-0 GSC) defeated West Alabama (6-9, 2-6 GSC) in a four-set battle Tuesday night at Pruitt Hall.
The Tigers came out firing, taking the opening set 25-22 behind an all-around effort from Cadence Goeden, Klára Bobánová, and Raven Grant. Jazlyn Snow and Katerina Korre anchored the defense with timely blocks, while a Bobánová ace and Goeden's late kills sealed the set in UWA's favor.
West Alabama carried that energy into the second set, going on a 7-0 run highlighted by Goeden's back-to-back kills and a service ace from Korre to tie the score at 12-12. Despite the surge, West Florida regained control down the stretch to even the match.
The Argonauts' strong serving and consistent attack—finishing with 10 service aces and a .226 hitting percentage—helped them take the final two sets, though the Tigers continued to fight with late points from Bobánová, Goeden, and Jana Petkovic.
West Alabama will look to regroup and protect home court when they host Valdosta State on Saturday afternoon at Pruitt Hall.
