LIVINGSTON, Ala. - With the Basketball season now just 16 days away, the GSC announced Jakobe Singleton, BJ Brown Jr., and Caleb Parr to the 2025-26 GSC Newcomers List.
Along with Singleton, Brown Jr., and Parr's selection to the Newcomers List, West Alabama was also picked fourth in the GSC Preseason Poll after finishing sixth in 2024-25.
Singleton is primed to make an immediate impact for the Tigers this season after spending his first two seasons with Hines Community College. At Hinds CC this past season, the 6'6" Forward averaged 20.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game on 49 | 33 | 84 percent shooting splits. Singleton was recognized for his standout season as he was named a NJCAA  All-American. As a freshman in 2023-24, Singleton averaged 17.4 points and 9.2 rebounds on 55 | 35 | 78 percent shooting. Singleton is a score-first forward that is able to get to his spots. The incoming junior will be heavily involved in West Alabama's offense that averaged 68.8 points per game last year.
As for Brown Jr., he is primed to run UWA's offense. The Point Guard comes to Livingston after two seasons with Huntington College where he averaged 19.0 points, 6.9 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game. Brown Jr. carried a ton of responsibilities for Huntingdon College's offense over the past two years, making him a versatile player for Head Coach Nick Woodruff. Brown Jr's ability to get deep into the paint opens up scoring opportunities for his teammates and that will be showcased in his UWA debut on November 14.
Parr is a Division I transfer as he joins the Tigers after a stint with Queens University. Parr, a 6'4" Guard, began his career on the JUCO Circuit with Northeast Mississippi CC where he made 50 starts in two seasons. The Guard averaged 13.7 points on 44 | 40 | 83 percent shooting splits. Parr is an explosive guard that can score the ball at all three levels, making him an important piece to West Alabama's puzzle this season.
Singleton, Brown Jr., and Parr are slated to make their UWA debut on November 14 as the Tigers began the GSC-SIAC Crossover with a matchup against Albany State in Xenia, Ohio.
