NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The University of West Alabama volleyball team battled hard on the road Friday, October 3, falling 3-0 to Trevecca Nazarene University in a Gulf South Conference matchup. Despite the loss, the Tigers (6-6, 2-3 GSC) showed flashes of strong play, led by standout performances from Katerina Korre and Jana Petkovic.
Trevecca Nazarene, now 11-3 overall and 5-0 in GSC play, secured the win with set scores of 25-22, 25-22, 25-10. UWA stayed competitive in the first two sets, with Korre leading the Tigers with 13 kills and three digs, while Petkovic added 27 assists and five digs, as well as freshman Raven Grant, who played all three sets and tallied 8 kills in her continued strong start to the season.
Looking ahead, UWA will travel to face Lee University tomorrow, Saturday, October 4, at 2 p.m. in Cleveland, Tennessee. Lee enters the match with a 6-8 overall record and 2-3 mark in Gulf South play. The Tigers will aim to build on their efforts from Friday and secure a key conference win on the road.
