Rodeo Set to Make Return at Southern Arkansas

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - After a week off, the University of West Alabama Men's and Women's Rodeo team is set to return to action this weekend for Southern Arkansas' Home Rodeo.

Southern Arkansas' Rodeo will be held in Magnolia, Arkansas, beginning on Thursday and concluding on Saturday.

"Having a week off from college rodeo was well needed," said head coach Daniel Poole. "It gave the ones on our team a chance to work out some kinks at various other non collegiate rodeos."

MEN'S TEAM
Coming into the weekend, UWA ranks second within the Ozark Region with 885 points, only trailing Missouri Valley College. The Tigers placed second at the UWA Rodeo Showdown with 565 points and saw standout performances from Tanner Brown, Sam McBride, Tyler Lovering, Kota Wilhite, and Stone Reeves

Two Rodeos into the year, Lovering and Teigan Orr find themselves atop the individual leaderboards. For Lovering, the Graduate Student leads the Ozark Region in the Tie Down Roping event as he's accumulated 160 total points. Orr, on the other hand, leads the Region in the Steer Wrestling with 210 points. Coming into Southern Arkansas' Rodeo, Orr recorded 90 points at the UWA Rodeo Showdown after a 120-point performance to kick off the year at Missouri Valley College. Also within the Region, Stone Reeves ranks fourth as a Team Roper Heeler with 140 on the season. The duo of Reeves and Sam McBride won the Team Roping event their last time out and are looking to duplicate that performance this weekend.

After a bounce back performance two weekends ago, the Tigers will look to build on their momentum in Magnolia this weekend.

WOMEN'S TEAM
West Alabama is entering the weekend after a fifth place placement at the UWA Rodeo Showdown their last time out. The Tigers have registered 115 points through two Rodeos, giving them an opportunity to skyrocket the Region leaderboard.

Darby Toole, Meah Pinter, Millie Joe Rosenberg, and Morgan Ward picked up steam two weekends ago as they head to Magnolia after competing in the Championship Round at UWA's Home Rodeo. Toole thrives in the Breakaway Roping, while Pinter is arguably the Tigers' top Goat Tying. Rosenberg has been excellent in the Barrel Racing thus far while the same can be said for Ward in the Team Roping event.

Toole, Pinter, Rosenberg, and Ward will be active again this weekend. Alongside them, Sydney Poole looks to jumpstart her 2025-26 campaign. Poole was one of the top Cowgirls in the country last season and is bound to make her presence felt this year. The senior competes in the Barrel Racing and Breakaway Roping events and hopes to make a Championship appearance this weekend.

Southern Arkansas' Rodeo is set to begin on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in Magnolia, Arkansas. It will be streamed on the Cowboy Channel App.
