PENSACOLA, Fla. — West Florida defeated West Alabama 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at UWF Field House. The Tigers recorded 40 kills in the match, including 18 in the second set, while Cloe Bonvillain notched a career-high 17 digs.
West Alabama opened the first set with early momentum as Cadence Goeden notched the first point off a kill assisted by Klára Bobánová, followed by a service ace from Gracie Pierscinski. Despite the strong start, West Florida found its rhythm and pulled ahead to take the opening frame 25-10.
The Tigers bounced back in the second set with an impressive run fueled by Bobánová and Katerina Korre. Bobánová tallied multiple kills, while Bailey Keef and Korre added service aces to help secure a 25-21 win, evening the match at one set apiece.
West Alabama continued to fight in the third and fourth sets, with key plays from Korre, Snow, and Pierscinski keeping the Tigers within striking distance. However, West Florida's late runs in each frame helped them close out the match 3-1.
West Alabama will return home to Pruitt Hall in Livingston, Ala., to host Christian Brothers on Thursday and Union on Friday. These matchups are crucial as they mark the Tigers' final two regular-season contests — and both are must-win games to clinch a spot in the conference tournament.
