LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Men's Basketball team returns home this weekend for GSC matchups against Lee and Trevecca Nazarene on Thursday and Saturday.
West Alabama (6-1, 2-0 GSC) and Lee (5-1, 2-0 GSC) are set to play on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. UWA and Trevecca Nazarene (5-2, 1-1 GSC) are slated to face off at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The Tigers enter the week after a perfect 2-0 start in GSC play, with impressive road wins coming over Valdosta State and West Florida. As for the Flames, they also come into this week's play 2-0 in conference play, with victories coming over Montevallo and AUM. For the Trojans, they enter after a 30-point loss to Montevallo last Saturday and are set to play UAH on Thursday before making the trek to Livingston on Saturday.
West Alabama brings a four-game winning streak back home and continues to play great team basketball. Seven games into the year, UWA is averaging 83.1 points while allowing 64.6 points per game, resulting in a 18.6 scoring margin which ranks 15th in the country. The Tigers offense can beat you a multitude of ways as they have one of the most balanced offensive units in the Region. In their 100-92 win over Valdosta State, the Tigers had seven players score in double figures and enter the week with six players averaging 8.5 or more points per game.
Rasean Frederick is currently West Alabama's leading scorer with 12.0 points per game on 51 percent shooting. Caleb Parr is right behind him and has quietly put together one of the most efficient starts to the season of any guard in the nation. Parr is averaging 11.9 points on 58 | 50 | 100 shooting splits, leading the Tigers in all three shooting categories. The Guard has shot over 60 percent from the field in six of seven games thus far. While Parr has been ultra efficient, the same can be said for Elliot Tulip. Tulip comes into this week's play averaging 11.0 points on 47 | 46 | 90 percent shooting splits.
For all seven games of the season, Christian Thompson has dominated the painted area. Thompson is averaging 11.4 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game along with 9.1 points. The forward's 11.4 rebounds ranks fifth in the country while his block number ranks 19th in nation. Thompson is one of the best defensive bigs that the Tigers have had in a while and is a major reason for UWA's 38 percent Field Goal Percentage defense which is 13th best in the country.
The Lee Flames have won their last three games and are averaging 77.8 points per game while allowing 71.7. Similar to West Alabama, Lee has had a strong offensive start to the year as they're shooting 48.7 percent from the floor and 39.5 percent from three.
The Flames' Tyron Chatman as been one of the best Point Guards in the conference to begin the year. Chatman is the engine of Lee's offense and brings in a statline of 15.3 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.0 rebounds to this week's action. The junior is averaging 17.6 points and 7.0 assists on 44 percent shooting and 45 percent from three during the Flames' three-game winning streak.
Alongside Chatman, Zach Gray, Dayveun Anderson, and Willie Walton are all averaging double digit points. Walton is Lee's rebound leader with 5.0 boards per game, coupling that with 10.3 points. Anderson completes the backcourt for the Flames and is averaging 13.7 points and 4.0 assists, creating a talented duo with Chatman. As for Gray, he's the team's second leading scorer with 14.0 points on 49 percent shooting and 42 percent from three.
As for Trevecca Nazarene, they lost their All-League player in Jalen Page over the offseason but have got off to a 5-2 start in 2025-26. The Trojans average 84.1 points per game while allowing 77.9 points.
Fred Bailey, a 6'2" 185 LB Freshman Guard, has been TNU's best player thus far. The Freshman is leading the Trojans in points, rebounds, and assists with 13.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists on an efficient 52.3 percent shooting. Bailey has scored double digit points in all games expect for Trevecca Nazarene's 30-point loss against Montevallo their last time out.
Brett Wright and Jax Abernathy have been great alongside Bailey as they bring in averages of 12.9 points and 12.1 points, respectively.
Tip-off for Thursday's game against Lee is set for 7:30 p.m. while Saturday's game against Trevecca Nazarene is slated for 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
