LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Women's Tennis team picked up a big win over West Florida, 4-3, while the Men's team fell to the Argonauts, 7-0.

The quartet of Shaira Rivera, Alexa Milliam, Lolita Hukasian, Greta Zawels led No. 19 West Alabama (5-3, 2-0 GSC) to their 4-3 win over No. 18 West Florida (7-4, 4-1 GSC), giving the Argos their first conference loss of the season. 

"This was a good win for the Women against a tough West Florida team that's always hard to beat at home," said head coach Jeff Beaman.

Milliam and Emiri Takanishi were the only doubles tandem to win their doubles match as the Tigers dropped the doubles point to the Argos.

In singles play, Milliam continued her dominance. The freshman kept her undefeated record in tact as she defeated UWF's Sandra Recuenco, (6-3, 6-4) in Line Two. Milliam has yet to drop a set this year while Rivera handled her business in Line One, beating Carlota Verdu, (6-1, 6-1) to move to 6-1 on the year.

In Lines Five and Six, Hukasian and Zawels clinched a colossal win for UWA as Hukasian took care of Nathalla Mossambani, (6-1, 6-1) while Zawels picked up her fourth win of the season, defeating Alberte Joergensen.

On the Men's side, West Alabama fell in all three doubles matches while the Tigers competed in singles play, but ended up falling 7-0 in Pensacola.

"For the Men, they battled against arguably the best team in the nation," coach Beaman continued. "We have to hold our heads up and get ready for Delta State tomorrow."

West Alabama will be back action on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. for a home matchup against Delta State.
