Baseball Powers Past Golden Rams in 18-6 Victory

ALBANY, Ga. – West Alabama's offense exploded for 18 runs on 10 hits in a dominant 18-6 victory over Albany State on Wednesday.

The Tigers (18-15) erased an early close game with a relentless offensive attack and solid pitching to secure the road win.

Nick Wilson led the way for UWA, going 3-for-4 with five RBIs, including a double. Fisher Moss and Jake Goolsby went deep, while Bryce Newman, Albert Hernandez, and Austin Thacker contributed two RBIs apiece.

Albany State (15-15) briefly held momentum with a four-run third inning to make it a 5-4 ball game, but West Alabama responded immediately with two runs in the top of the fourth to reclaim control. The Tigers continued their offensive barrage, scoring every inning from the third through the seventh. A four-run sixth and another four-run seventh sealed the commanding victory.

On the mound, the Tigers held the Rams to six hits, with Bryant Bryant, Josh Marshall, and a trio of relievers limiting Albany State to just two runs after the third inning. The UWA pitching staff combined for nine strikeouts and stranded 12 Rams baserunners.

Defensively, Albany State struggled with four errors, allowing West Alabama to capitalize on extra opportunities. The Tigers' patience at the plate also played a key role, drawing four walks and forcing Albany State's pitchers into difficult situations throughout the game.

With the win, West Alabama gains momentum heading into a crucial Gulf South Conference matchup. The Tigers will return home to Tartt Field for a three-game series against Union University, starting Friday, March 28.
